The education policy has in Indonesia been constantly changing for decades to adjust to the development of science and technology.
For that purpose, the government is also constantly revising the curriculum to meet the ever-changing challenge.
Recently, the government introduced the 2013 curriculum. The new curriculum has its pros and cons, particularly in connection with English language teaching (ELT) for young learners.
Those who object to the new curriculum think that it offers less room to teach English in elementary schools.
In fact, there is still wide opportunity for students to have English lessons.
The government has made ELT for young learners local content in every elementary school.
Many believe that ELT for young learners in Indonesia has been rapidly growing due to the awareness of many parties about the role of English as tool of communications in the international community.
Many also believe that English is important to get a good education and a better job. Currently, many schools offer bilingual classes following the elimination of the International School Pilot Project (RSBI). Classes use both Indonesian and English in their instruction.
Meanwhile, private English courses are also mushrooming in response to the awareness of the importance of English and because most schools are unable to provide their students with a good command of English.
I believe that schools in Indonesia have a wide opportunity to teach English to their students. In the new curriculum, however, there is flexibility. Schools have a choice of whether or not to teach English.
If they think it is an urgent subject and students can access learning recourses, an elementary school could teach English to its students.

Public Relations
Public Relations
Audio Lingual Method
Audio-Lingual
Method (ALM)
also
called the aural-oral or Army method
is
a style of teaching used in teaching foreign languages.
It is based on behaviorist
theory, which professes that certain traits of living things, and in this
case humans,
could be trained through a system of reinforcement—correct use of a trait
would receive positive feedback while incorrect use of that trait would
receive negative feedback.
The
audio-lingual method (ALM),assumes that language learning is a matter of
habit formation and errors require immediate correction so that bad habits
cannot take hold. ALM relies on structured dialogues and repetitive drills to
reinforce targeted language forms. Critics of
audio-lingualism charge that it is not a thinking-person's method and
fails to emphasize meaningful communication. However, research shows
substantial language learning gains in programs that combine communicative
interactions with ALM's focus on language structure.
As we have seen, the
Grammar-Translation Method did not prepare people to use the target language.
While communication in the target language was the goal of the Direct Method,
there were at the time exciting new ideas about language and learning
emanating(produce or show) from the disciplines of descriptive linguistics
and behavioral psychology. These ideas led to the development of the
Audio-Lingual Method.
Some of the principles are
similar to those of the Direct Method, but many are different, having been
based upon conceptions of language and learning from these two disciplines.
And reason why I choose
that method, because more better and simple than other, Ur opinion ?
